  • Late openings today for the Botanical Garden, Storyland, Carousel Gardens, & City Putt

    Due to the Crescent City Classic taking place at the Botanical Garden, City Park, City Putt, Storyland, and Amusements will open late at noon. 

    City Putt hours just for today: Noon to midnight

    Storyland hours just for today: Noon to 6pm

    Carousel Gardens Amusement Park hours just for today: Noon to 6pm

  • “Bird Watching in City Park”

    Explore Couturie Forest with Mark Meunier while enjoying a look at City Park’s avian inhabitants. Mark will show you their habits and alert you to their calls. Appropriate walking attire and binoculars are needed. The class is $10 per person. Class is from 8am till 10am. Meet at the Couturie Forest trailhead on Harrison Avenue in City Park. Pre-registration is required for all classes. To register contact Susan at (504)483-9473 or scapley@nocp.org. Instructor Mark Meunier holds a B.A. in Biology from UNO. He is a naturalist and avid birder. He has attended several birding events including the Annual Grand Isle Bird Count and the St. Francisville Bird Fest. Mark has been a dedicated New Orleans Botanical Garden staff member for many years. Mark is a Certified Master Naturalist of Greater New Orleans. (This event is put on by the Botanical Garden Education Department but please meet at the entrance to the forest and not the Botanical Garden). 

  • Grow Dat Farm Stand

    Activities

    Check out the Farm Stand at Grow Dat to purchase youth-grown produce in the City Park area’s only Saturday produce market. Get your weekly supply of fresh sustainably grown veggies, herbs and cut flowers direct from our farm in City Park! Their specialties include salad mix, arugula, lettuce, kale, chard, and a variety of herbs. Produce is grown and sold by youth employees who are training as young leaders through the work of organic farming. Youth will be providing free tours of our fields, eco-campus and bayou corridor. All proceeds will go to further our mission to nurture a diverse group of young leaders through the meaningful work of growing food. Visitors can even take a tour while at the facility.
    Saturdays from 9am-Noon (Now – June 14, 2014)

    Play at City Putt on Easter morning and have extra fun! The first 100 kids who come through the doors and play around of mini golf get a special Easter prize!
    City Putt is open 10am to 10pm on Sunday, April 20, 2014.
    Ages 13+ $8
    Children (4-12) $6
    Second round in same visit $4
    Children (0-3) Free

  • Living Green in New Orleans: Earth Day 2014

    Earth Day at the New Orleans Botanical Garden in City Park is a great event! In its first year, we hope to grow and have everyone have a great time listening to music, learning about being Green, and of course having delicious food while watching great entertainment!
    When: April 22, 2014 from 5pm to 9pm
    Where: The New Orleans Botanical Garden
    Enter on Victory Drive. There is free parking available on Park street and in the Parking lot next to City Putt.
    Cost: Free (donations are accepted)

    This celebration promises:
    -Farm Stands with local products
    -Cooking demonstrations
    -Art and plant vendors
    -Live Bluegrass music
    -Activities for kids
    -Programing/lectures
    At 6:00pm Dana Nunez Brown will give a presentation and book signing of her book, "Using Plants for Stormwater Management: A Green Infrastructure Guide for the Gulf South."

    Bring your blankets, chairs and picnic fare to this free annual concert on Goldring/Woldenberg Great Lawn presented by the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra and City Park. Musical selections include traditional classics and modern favorites – “Light Cavalry Overture”, music from Carmen Suite, selections from Phantom of the Opera, “Strike Up the Band”, “Muppet Medley”, a traditional New Orleans Medley, “Big Band Fantasy”, Irving Berlin - A Symphonic Portrait, and “Stars and Stripes Forever”.
    Please note: While the sounds of LPO can be heard throughout the Park and there are no bad seats, plan to arrive early if you want a spot near the orchestra. This free event is popular! Free parking available throughout the park; Dreyfous Ave. is closed during this event.
