What’s open?

With the exception of our Golf Courses, Softball Quadraplex, Picnic Shelters, and the Casino Building, most of our facilities have reopened. A listing of facilities and their hours is avaialble here.

How do I rent a facility for a wedding or banquet, rent a birthday spot or rent a picnic shelter?

Please call (504) 488-2896 for assistance and information. You can also email alaughlin@nocp.org. (Our sales department receives scores of messages each day. They return calls as fast as they can.)
What’s the status of the lagoons and fishing?

Work continues on the restoration of our lagoons. We added thousands of fingerlings in December 2006, 5000 Florida strain bass in May 2007, and will add more in the future. Our fish stock has been severely depleted but you are welcome to come wet a line whenever you wish.

How many trees were lost?

Over 1,000 trees were toppled by Katrina. Another 1,000 subsequently died from the effects of the salty floodwaters. Fortunately the ancient grove of live oak trees sustained minimal damage.
What else can I do?

Patronize park facilities as they open and contact your elected officials and encourage them to support the park financially.
