Help Restore the Park: Sponsor a Tree

Hurricane Katrina devastated City Park and killed over 2,000 trees. You can help replenish the urban forest by sponsoring a tree. The tree type will vary depending on the needs of the park, but trees will include oaks, magnolias, bald cypress, pines, and palms. The Park makes the ultimate decision on the location and type of tree. Each tree costs $750. In return for your donation, you’ll receive:

• A tree planted in the park
• Maintenance of the tree for one year, including watering
• Recognition on a donor wall in the Casino Building
• Delight in knowing that you have helped restore City Park
• A tax deduction as allowed by law

The process:

1. Send payment for your tree.
2. You will receive a thank-you letter that can also be used for tax purposes.
3. We purchase trees when we receive orders of at least fifteen.
4. We plant primaily between the months of November and March
5. After your tree is planted, (which may be several months after your payment), we will send you a map depicting the location of your tree and its GPS coordinates. We will also affix a tag to the tree with your name on it. The tag will remain for aproximately six months. The letter will also contain a form for you to fill out to ensure we list your information appropriately on the recognition wall.

Good news! As of December 2007, over 400 have been sponsored and another 600 have been planted via grant funding. Thanks so much to all the tree sponsors!
