City Park 2018 Master Plan
The City Park Master Plan was developed with extensive input from the public through a process which included a regional telephone survey, online survey, as well as two well attended public meetings. In addition, other great public parks, such as Central Park, Balboa Park, etc., were examined to learn about trends in park planning and current thinking regarding programs and facilities appropriate to a great regional park.
Project consultants included the national urban planning and design firm of Wallace, Roberts & Todd, LLC, the local landscape architecture firm of Cashio Cochran LLC, and the international economic analysis firm of Economics Research Associates.

On March 29, 2005, The Board of Commissioners of the City Park Improvement Association adopted City Park 2018, a comprehensive master plan for the park that sets forth the direction of park projects and programming to be completed or underway by the year 2018, the 300th anniversary of the City of New Orleans. An additional hearing was conducted September 25, 2007 to review progress and hear from groups and citizens on recommendations for changes or amendments to the Master Plan.
On November 27, 2007, The Board of Commissioners of the City Park Improvement Association took action on several amendments to the Park's Master Plan as well as provide guidance to groups proposing new or improved facilities in the Park.
The Master Plan document is available for download in Adobe Acrobat portable document format (pdf) which can be viewed online or printed on standard 8 ½" x 11" paper in its entirety. Viewing or printing the plan requires free Adobe Acrobat Reader.
